The New York-based software firm Astronomer was reluctantly thrust into the spotlight in the wake of its CEO Andy Byron and HR head Kristin Cabot’s alleged affair being outed at a Coldplay concert. Their purported workplace romance has especially kicked off a heated debate on social media since the company’s boss is reportedly married to a woman named Megan Kerrigan Byron.
This week was essentially a whirlwind for the Astronomer, with former employees coming forward and expressing their enthusiasm about their supposedly “toxic” boss being exposed. On top of that, statements claimed to have been penned by Byron – but ultimately debunked as fabricated – went viral in the aftermath of Coldplay catching the CEO and Cabot canoodling at their Boston concert on the jumbotron.
In light of the kiss cam scandal, now dubbed ‘Coldplaygate,’ the tech company has taken its first step in addressing the controversy.
Astronomer looking into Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot’s alleged affair
Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot are believed to have been immediately placed on leave since their infamous Coldplay concert moment, as per an Axios report quoting sources. Additionally, the present-day CEO of the firm is even said to be negotiating an exit package as he was possibly on the path to resigning from his post altogether. For the time being, Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy has taken over as the interim CEO.

As per a formal statement issued by the company, Astronomer has already launched an investigation into the embarrassing concert video that went viral this week.
“Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability,” the company said in an official statement shared via social media.
Company debunks fake statements and a third employee’s alleged involvement
With the investigation already underway, officials expect crucial details to emerge shortly. The note also addresses a third company exec’s name being tossed into the scandal. Apparently, a third individual also became the focus of online chatter for her “stunned expression” in the video. Internet sleuths believed that the person in question was Alyssa Stoddard, Astronomer’s very own Senior Director of People.
The company has since firmly established that Stoddard was not even at the event. “No other employees were in the video,” Astronomer confirmed, adding that Byron hadn’t yet put out a statement addressing his actions yet either. “Reports saying otherwise are all incorrect,” the post said of the multiple fake statements going around on social media.
