British singer Ed Sheeran surprised his fans in Bengaluru on an early Sunday morning when he took the footpath for an impromptu performance on Church Street. In town to perform at the scheduled concert, the singer showed up without a word, instantly gathering a large crowd of eager onlookers.

However, the unanticipated performance was cut short as Bengaluru Police intervened. The officers, who did not know who Sheeran was, asked him to stop, stating that he hadn’t taken all the necessary permissions for the street performance. One of the officers was seen in a viral video unplugging Sheeran’s microphone while he was still singing.

Despite the disruption, Sheeran’s impromptu appearance on Church Street generated a whiff of excitement among fans and passersby. The singer is in Bengaluru for his scheduled concert, and another concert is planned for today at NICE Grounds. The shows are special as Sheeran will be performing in Bengaluru for the first time. He will be performing for the first time in a single city, due to heavy demand.

Recalling his relationship with India, Sheeran expressed his excitement to return to the country. He said, “Every time I come to India, it’s more exciting. When I first came here in 2014, I never knew how much my songs were connecting here. It was only when I came in 2015 that I realized the intensity of the love Indian audiences have for me. Today, it stands out as one of my biggest markets.”
