India-origin entrepreneur and Republican leader Vivek Ramaswamy recently took to X and shared some beautiful pictures of his wife and himself, congratulating her on their 10th wedding anniversary. However, the post soon went viral with a series of racist comments. Ramaswamy’s elaborated on the story of how he asked his wife on their first date, which involved heading west for the weekend and hiking Flattop mountain in the Rockies.

“We got within striking distance of the summit when a blizzard hit. I was foolishly stubborn about still making it, when she grabbed my hand, looked me in the eye, & said we had a lifetime ahead to come back and finish it. 14 years & two kids later, we finally made it back to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary this weekend. Grateful for the love of my life & every day of our journey together,” Ramaswamy said in his post.

‘Go back to India’: Internet’s racist comments on Ramaswamy’s post

Soon, the post was flooded with racist and anti-immigrant comments. An X user with the handle @RuleByMight wrote, “We would rather you go back to India and explore the hiking trails there please.” Another user @BeefStreem wrote, “I see this was before you did your skin bleaching to appear a higher caste than your birth. Very brave to show this off.”

Many of the comments were a lot about ther skin colour. A user, @ShaunsEyeView wrote, “Why do you both look 3-4 shades lighter? You didn’t bleach your skin, did you?” Another user @beaucstovall commented, “Don’t you have mountains in your home country?”

Some comments like from the user @pmcOI_1999 talked about their marrige with a racist undertone. “Beautiful, youthful couple. Uhm, 1st date, weekend travel, a lifetime ahead–is it allowed?, an arranged introduction?, object matrimony?,” the comment wrote.

Some also came to Ramaswamy’s defense and apologies for the racist comments. @rthrash3 wrote, “Man, I’ve given you your fair share of flack for some of your political takes despite being a Republican myself, but I’m just disgusted by the racist garbage people have littered across your post. You and your wife deserve better.”

Another user @NelsonJStruck wrote, “Ignore the haters, living well is the best revenge, seems like you are doing just that.”
