A woman from Delhi has alleged that her family has been facing threats and intimidation after she filed a complaint to the MCD, claiming that her home’s CCTV camera was smashed late at night in what she believes was an act of retaliation. Vandana Jha expressed fear for her family’s safety, and added that her son, who is currently appearing for an examination, is under “mental distress” following the incident.
‘CCTV smashed, family in danger’
“The result of one of my complaints was that last night, the CCTV at my house was smashed,” Jha wrote on X (formerly Twitter), tagging the official handles of Delhi Police, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Delhi Commission for Women and Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
She added, “My family is in danger. My child, who is currently taking an exam, is in mental distress,” before asking, “Where should I go? There is no one to listen.”

According to a message shared by a journalist, which he said he received from the woman, the incident took place when the Jha’s husband was attending a wedding.
“Last night, when my husband was out of the house to attend a wedding ceremony, some anti-social elements deliberately broke the CCTV camera at my home. The entire incident is clearly recorded in the CCTV footage, which shows two masked individuals. At the time of the incident, the lights of the entire colony were also deliberately turned off as part of the conspiracy,” the message stated.
Dialled 112, but no ‘concrete action’ taken
Jha further claimed that she dialled the police emergency number 112 immediately and that police personnel arrived at the spot, but no “effective or concrete action” was taken.
She said she had earlier filed a complaint with the MCD regarding alleged illegal encroachment near her flat and believes the vandalism was carried out in retaliation.
“I request that immediate action be taken in the interest of safety, fairness, and justice, and that police protection be provided to my family. If, despite this, any untoward incident occurs with my family, the full responsibility will lie with the Delhi Police and the concerned MCD officials,” the message further added.
CCTV footage of the incident
She also shared CCTV footage of the incident and asked, “Will the administration and police only spring into action after a murder or suicide?”
The video, which has been gaining significant traction, opens to show a few men gathering outside her house, with one of them carrying a stick. A few seconds into the video, the men can be seen smashing the CCTV installed outside her home in an apparent attempt to threaten her. Soon, the CCTV footage goes off. Throughout the video, the dogs can be heard barking.
