Swiggy has released its year-end report for 2025, offering a detailed look into how Indians ordered food and dined out over the year. From everyday comfort meals to headline-grabbing restaurant bills, the data reflects both changing preferences and familiar favourites across cities.

One of the standout findings emerged from Swiggy’s dining-out insights, where a few users pushed the limits of spending. The report reveals that two diners each in Bengaluru and Mumbai recorded the highest single-visit restaurant spends of the year, with individual bills touching Rs 3 lakh in 2025.

Bengaluru, Mumbai lead high-value dining spends

Other cities also featured prominently in the list of big spenders. In Pune, one diner clocked the city’s highest single restaurant bill at Rs 1,73,885, while another spent Rs 1.19 lakh on a single outing on Valentine’s Day, highlighting a growing appetite for premium dining experiences beyond metros.

Swiggy also noted that users actively sought savings while eating out. Through Swiggy Dineout, customers collectively saved Rs 774 crore in 2025, indicating strong adoption of deals and discounts even as spending rose.

Biryani tops charts as food orders surge

On the food delivery side, ordering volumes continued to set new records. A Mumbai-based user placed 3,196 orders in 2025 — nearly nine orders a day — making it the highest number of deliveries recorded on the platform this year.

The report once again crowned biryani as India’s most-ordered dish, with 93 million orders placed in 2025, marking the 10th consecutive year the dish has topped Swiggy’s charts. “Biryani is the undisputed King, proving that while trends may come and go, India’s deep-rooted love for this aromatic masterpiece remains constant,” the company said in its report.

Reflecting on the broader trends, Swiggy Marketplace CEO Rohit Kapoor said, “It isn’t just about the mind-blowing 93 million biryanis ordered, the growing appetite for global cuisines, or rediscovering local favourites. It’s about what sits beneath those numbers: moods, memories, and moments that people chose to celebrate with food. At Swiggy, we’re fortunate to witness these stories every single day and be a part of everyday joys.”
