A woman has reportedly filed for a divorce after ChatGPT ‘exposed’ her husband’s alleged extramarital affair, through what might be one of the most unexpected sources: a coffee cup. The Greek woman made up her mind to divorce her husband of 12 years after he refused to “separate” on mutual grounds, as per a report by Greek City Times

But how exactly did ChatGPT “expose” the husband’s alleged affair, and what does a coffee cup have to do with it?

‘My wife is into trendy things’: Husband

Well, the woman, rather than visiting a traditional fortune teller, turned to ChatGPT to try her hand at tasseography, a centuries-old practice of interpreting patterns in coffee grounds to predict a person’s future or character.

For this, she persuaded her husband to have a Greek coffee and later took pictures and had the AI chatbot “read” them, as per the husband, who recounted the incident on the Greek morning show To Proino

According to the husband, his wife is into “trendy things”, which is what led her to turn to an AI chatbot to perform tasseography.

‘Her name starts with E’: ChatGPT after reading coffee cup

When ChatGPT reportedly revealed that her husband was having an extramarital affair with a younger woman, and that this woman would ultimately destroy their family, the wife decided to break ties with her husband.

According to the chatbot’s interpretation of the coffee grounds, the affair involved a woman whose name began with the letter “E”, and it suggested that this woman and her husband were destined to start a romantic relationship.

On the other hand, the reading of his wife’s coffee cup reportedly indicated that he was already cheating, and that the “other woman” had intentions of breaking their home.

‘Woman filed for divorce’

“I laughed it off as nonsense, but she took it seriously. She asked me to leave, told our kids we were getting divorced, and then I got a call from a lawyer. That’s when I realised this wasn’t just a phase,” Greek City Times quoted the husband as saying.

Although the man’s lawyer attempted to mediate, arguing that ChatGPT’s claims shouldn’t be taken at face value and that her husband was innocent until proven guilty, the wife remained firm in her decision. She went on to formally serve him with divorce papers.

Interestingly, this wasn’t the first time the wife had placed stock in what some might call the supernatural. “A few years ago, she visited an astrologer, and it took her a whole year to accept that none of it was real,” the husband revealed, according to Greek City Times.
