Following the fata flight crash of the Air India plane in Ahmedabad, actress Meera Chopra took to social media and publicly condemned the ‘insensitivity’ of the airline. She demanded a refund for a ticket scheduled to Dubai which resulted in a wave of social media backlash. From calling her “entitled” to accusing her of prioritising money over safety, netizens called out her alleged attempt to “milk tragedy for her 15 seconds (of fame)”. User AJ was astonished with “the entitlement on this app”.

In the social media post made by Chopra, she accused Air India of being insensitive after the airline “declined to refund any amount citing no advisory has come to them”. While the reasons of the Ahmedabad plane crash have been attributed to the potential lack of safety measures that led to the problems in lift-off, the netizens have not gone easy calling out Chopra.

Netizens come to Air India’s defense

A user on social media defended Air India’s stance and said, “You should have tried their redressal mechanism before posting this publicly. Did you read the ticket cancellation policy before booking? At least read it now.” Some netizens called her rant “insensitive” as her “stinginess is beyond shocking” considering the 241 casualties aboard the Air India flight.

“No Meera , Air India is not wrong. It’s a safe airline and the problem is Boeing aircrafts” said @sanwar1975 bringing the logistical fault at the forefront. Addressing the “irrational decision” of cancelling flights after one unsafe flight, Chopra’s post received a flurry of opposing comments to her claims.

Reiterating the emotions of many others a user on X replied, “If you really care about your life then you should not worry about refund and go for safer opt(ion)”. Others agreed with similar sentiments and bashed her call for boycotting Air India calling it an “absurd request”.
