ICC Women’s World Cup 2025: Tournament structure
The opening match of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 will feature India against Sri Lanka. However, the venue for this tournament opener remains undecided. This uncertainty follows a decision by a Karnataka government-appointed commission, which declared Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium unsafe for large-scale events following the stampede incident that occurred during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL 2025 victory parade and celebrations.
The tournament is reported to feature eight teams that will be competing against each other in a round-robin format to claim the title. The tournament will witness 28 league matches from September 30 to 2 November 2. The tournament will be held across venues in India and Sri Lanka.
