RCB New Captain Announced: Rajat Patidar has been announced as the new captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the upcoming 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season, which is slated to commence from March 21. Patidar takes over from Faf du Plessis who led the team between 2022-24. Under du Plessis, the team made it to the IPL Playoffs two times.

31-year-old Patidar was born in Indore and started off his cricket journey at a very young age. He made his first-class debut for Madhya Pradesh in 2015-16 Ranji Trophy and quickly cemented his place as a reliable top-order batsman. Over the years, Patidar has shown his batting prowess by being a consistent performer and has scored significant runs.

His association with the RCB started in 2021. However, his performance during the 2022 IPL season made a notable mark, as Patidar delivered an impressive performance in the Eliminator match against Lucknow Super Giants. He scored unbeaten 112 out of 54 balls. This innings not only showcased his talent but also carved his name in the record books as the first uncapped player to attain a century in the IPL playoffs.

Patidar’s good performance in domestic as well in the IPL called his name for the national team. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut for India on December 21, 2023 against South Africa. After this he received his Test cap on February 2,2024 against England, marking his arrival for the longer format of the game.
