The Asia Cup 2025 is set to begin on September 9, 2025, leading to an exciting cricketing month ahead. Team India, which will be working towards a title defence, is set to start its preparations for the tournament in Dubai from today.
The Indian cricket team will begin the final phase of its preparations for the Asia Cup 2025 at the ICC Academy in Dubai on Friday evening. This practice session, scheduled from 6 PM to 9 PM, will be the team’s first collective training session before the tournament.
Asia Cup 2025: Practice sessions
Unlike previous tournaments, no preparatory camp had been organised in India this time. Instead, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had asked the players to directly assemble in Dubai evening for an extended run of practice sessions before their campaign opener.
Multiple cricketing experts have assigned great importance to these practice runs as they will help the squad leaders, Suryakumar Yadav and vice-captain Shubman Gill, better fit into their roles.
Asia Cup 2025: Arrival dates
With no group departure provisions in place for the tournament, squad members have been instructed to board flights directly from their respective cities. While Team captain Suryakumar Yadav and all-rounder Hardik Pandya have already arrived in Dubai, coach Gautam Gambhir is expected to land in the UAE today.
Newly appointed vice-captain Shubman Gill is set to join the team from Bengaluru. The BCCI had instructed all players to report in Dubai latest b Thursday evening with practice sessions set to begin from today.
Asia Cup 2025: India’s group stage fixtures
Team India is set to start its Asia Cup campaign against home favourites UAE on September 10 in Dubai. One of the most anticipated matches of the tournament, India vs Pakistan, will take place at the Dubai International Stadium on September 14.
The 2025 Asia Cup will follow a T20I format with eight teams, divided into two groups of four. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 4 stage, where they will battle each other to book their spot in the finals.
In a promising development for Indian cricket fans, India and Pakistan have been placed in the same group (Group A) along with the UAE and Oman. This means that if both India and Pakistan reach the Super Fours and eventually the final, they could face each other up to three times in the tournament, setting the stage for some electric clashes between the sport’s greatest rivals.
