India’s proud bid at Rio 2016 Olympics, wrestler Sakshi Malik is gloating in the moment of glory and rightly so. After years of rigourous hardwork, the first bronze that broke the Indian jinx at Rio Olympics is shining bright in every Indian eye. Malik, who flinched a bronze at the 58 kg individual Women Wrestling bout at Rio.
Sakshi, who belongs to Haryana started the medal tally of India after a long wait on Wednesday after a grand 8-5 score in the play-off. The young wrestler, who has also been called the female ‘Sultan’, has been flooded with congratulatory messages from across the country. While the Haryana Government had announced a cash prize of 2.5 cr to the young girl, IRCTC has promised Rs 50 lakh.
Looks like the applauds will continue flowing as the Kejriwal led AAP Govt in Delhi has also decided to reward the 23 year old.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia met the Malik family on Friday and congratulated them for the big achievment. He also announced Rs 1 cr prize money for Sakhi. Besides this, a promotion has also been promised to Sakshi’s father, who works as a bus conductor in DTC.
Sisodia has written to Transport Minister Satyendra Jai stating, ‘I propose that apart from felicitating Sakshi Malik, the government should felicitate her family, especially her father’.
