Team India skipper Rohit Sharma on Saturday reached a significant milestone by hitting his 300th six in One Day International (ODI) cricket. He achieved this feat during the ICC World Cup match against Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Sharma has accomplished this milestone in just 254 ODI games.
Although Rohit Sharma‘s 300 sixes are a remarkable achievement, he still trails behind former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi, who holds the record with 351 sixes in 308 ODI matches, reported PTI. West Indies legend Chris Gayle is not far behind with 331 maximums in 301 ODI encounters.
Sharma surpassing Chris Gayle’s record!
Notably, during India’s match against Afghanistan, Rohit Sharma surpassed Chris Gayle’s record by hitting 554 international sixes, becoming the player with the most sixes in international cricket, reported PTI.
In the same game, India’s formidable bowling attack, led by Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Hardik Pandya, dismantled Pakistan’s batting lineup. Bumrah, Siraj, Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja each claimed two wickets, restricting their traditional rivals to just 191 runs in 42.5 overs. Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, was the top scorer for his team with 50 runs off 58 balls, while Mohammad Rizwan contributed 49 runs.
