RCB IPL 2025 Schedule, Dates, Squad, Match List: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) is gearing up for the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) under a new captain as Rajat Patidar takes over the leadership from Faf du Plessis, who has moved to Delhi Capitals. Patidar becomes the eighth captain in RCB’s history, having played three seasons for the franchise since joining in 2021.
The 31-year-old Indore-born batter rejoined RCB midway through the 2022 season as a replacement player for Luvnith Sisodia. Despite a short stint in 2021, he was not retained but made a strong comeback later. Ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, RCB retained only three players: Patidar, Yash Dayal, and long-time talisman Virat Kohli. Kohli expressed his support for Patidar’s captaincy at the RCB Unbox event, saying, “This guy (Patidar) is going to lead you for a long time. He is going to do a great job. He has got everything that is required (to succeed).”
RCB’s IPL 2025 Campaign
RCB will kick off their IPL 2025 journey against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on March 22. Their first home game at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is set for April 2 against Gujarat Titans. The schedule has RCB playing four of their last six matches at home, offering them a strong chance to end the league stage on a high.
With IPL 2025 commencing just 12 days after the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final on March 9, RCB faces a crucial test in their quest for their maiden title.
