A funny moment marked the beginning of the India vs Oman game in Abu Dhabi. After the toss, India captain Suryakumar Yadav was asked about changes to India’s playing XI, to which he went blank and started scanning the field in search of answers. The moment has since gone viral. Even glancing at his teammates didn’t help jog his memory. Covering up for his memory, Yadav joked, “I’ve become like Rohit,” a cheeky nod to predecessor Rohit Sharma’s well-known forgetfulness.
With India already assured of a Super Four berth, the team fielded a rotated squad. After eventually piecing together the names, Yadav chose to bat first, saying, “We haven’t batted first yet in this edition, so we want to test our depth in this game.”

Rohit’s trademark trait of stammering, forgetting important information and replacing words with yeh (This), woh (that) became a popular subject for the online meme culture in India.
Who was the player that Suryakumar forgot?
It was learnt a bit later that the other change that Surya was talking about was Arshdeep Singh. Forgetting names was so infectious on Friday that even the Oman captain, Jatinder Singh, forgot the names of the players in his team’s changes.
India made two changes to the team with Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh coming in for Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy against Oman. Post this game, India will next move on to the Super 4s where they play Pakistan in the first match of the next round on September 21.
