Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has officially added another feather to his cap, taking charge as Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Telangana on Friday. The cricketer reported to the Director General of Police (DGP), marking a significant moment in his career off the field.

This prestigious appointment comes after Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s earlier announcement, granting Siraj a Group-I government position in recognition of his contributions to Indian cricket. The move is part of the state’s initiative to promote sports and support athletes who have made the nation proud. The Telangana government amended the 1994 Regulation of Appointments Act to facilitate these appointments.

Siraj, who has played 89 matches for India and lifted the T20 World Cup trophy earlier this year, is not the only athlete honored by the Telangana government. In July, two-time world champion boxer Nikhat Zareen was also awarded a Group-I job for her achievements.

While Siraj takes on this new role, his commitment to Indian cricket remains unchanged. He recently played in the Test series against Bangladesh, helping India secure a whitewash victory with four crucial wickets. The fast bowler is currently resting during the T20I series as younger talents, including Arshdeep Singh and Mayank Yadav, step up.
