The Surat Police questioned Sunrisers Hyderabad player Abhishek Sharma for over five hours in connection with the alleged suicide of a model on Tuesday. The model, Tania Singh, was found dead at her home on February 21 last month. reports say that her body was found hanging from the ceiling fan at her Vesu home. The 28-year-old was a model and also a fashion designer. An Indian Express report says that the 23-year-old was grilled by the local police in Vesu from 11 am in morning till 4 pm in the afternoon. After the intense questioning, the police allowed Sharma to go.

The IE report says that the initial probe by the police has revealed that Sharma and Singh were in a relationship for almost a year. But for past six months, the SRH player had stopped taking the model’s calls. Quoting Inspector DU Barad, the IE report further said that Sharma was questioned in detail, and he answered all the queries. If needed, the SRH player will be called again to join the probe. The Inspector also said that so far, as many as 40 people have been quizzed regarding the model’s suicide. The police have not been able to establish the cause of the model’s suicide.

The maverick all-rounder, who led the Under-19 India squad to stunning victory in 2016 at Asia Cup tournament was asked to join the police probe after the call logs and the online chat logs showed that Sharma and Singh were constantly in touch for several months. At the time of the suicide, the model was reportedly wearing a wire-free earphone. This led police to suspect that she had spoken with someone before ending her life by suicide.
