Kolkata Knight Riders, the newly-crowned IPL champions, do not fail to give credit to mentor Gautam Gambhir and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar for shaping the team into a champion squad that triumphed over Sunrisers Hyderabad. KKR dominated the final, crushing Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in a one-sided match after dismissing them for a mere 113, the lowest total ever recorded in an IPL title clash.
Despite losing the toss, KKR’s bowlers delivered a clinical performance to skittle SRH for 113. The team then chased down the modest target of 114 with a staggering 57 balls to spare. Throughout the action, team mentor Gautam Gambhir and head coach Chandrakant Pandit watched from the dugout, witnessing KKR’s commanding display.
SRK moment of motivation
Drenched in emotions, the team faced three lost matches in this journey but the spirit remained the same as Shah Rukh Khan would explain this as “god’s plan.” On April 16, KKR lost the match to Rajasthan Royals (RR) by two wickets, SRK came to saviour to lift the team’s temperament.
After the marvellous win of KKR against SRH, the team shared a video edit on X showing the belief in SRK’s words, that is now receiving hearts across the platform.
The win unlocked the memories of the first IPL title for KKR in 2012. Mentor Gautam Gambhir and Sunil Narine lifted each other out of joy as both witnessed the win for the second time in the same stadium, Chepauk. In 2012, KKR won their first IPL title in the match against the CSK by 5 wickets.
