Amid growing buzz around Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s health in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League, cricket legend Wasim Akram has reportedly made a unique prediction for ‘Thala’.
In an interview to ‘Sportskeeda’, the former skipper of Pakistan cricket team said that had Dhoni been the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the franchise would have won the IPL championship at least three times. The former pacer said that India has not seen a cricketer like Dhoni.
While he said that RCB has someone like Virat Kohli in their squad, the team has not managed to win the IPL tournament even for a single time in the last 16 years. Akram said that picture would have been different had Dhoni be at the helm of affairs.
Dhoni, who handed over the CSK leadership to Ruturaj Gaikwad at the start of this edition of IPL, has won the championship for a record five times.
At 42, Dhoni is still one of the key players for Chennai Super Kings. Batting at a much lower position in the middle order, Dhoni has produced some iconic blitz with power-hitting. He is also the only player in the history of IPL, who has 150 catches to his name.
At present, the defending champions are at number 3 in the IPL Points Table and still are favourites for the May 26 finale.
