IPL 2026 News: The much-awaited mini auction of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is likely to be held in the second or third week of December this year, with December 13-15 most likely possibility, a report said. Though a final schedule is yet to be taken up, franchise officials have spoken to BCCI around the above mentioned dates.

Moreover, the deadline for the franchises to inform about the retained players is likely to be November 15, a Crickbuzz report said.

IPL 2026 Venue

The uncertainty around the venue of the auction, which has been taking place overseas for the past two years — Dubai (2023) and Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (2024), is also there. The decision is with the Governing Council to announce whether the auction will be held in India or abroad, reported Cricbuzz.

It added that the deadline to submit the list of players the franchises want to retain for the IPL 2026 would most certainly be Nov 15, a little over a month from now. By this date, the IPL teams will have to submit the names of players they want to retain, and release for the auction.

What to expect in IPL next year?

The 19th edition of the much loved T-20 tournament will certainly bring with it the suspense and thrill it always does. After a enthralling season in 2025, the teams might be looking up to make a stronger team to sustain longer, and win in the tournament.

Meanwhile, several big names like T Natarajan, Mitchell Starc, Akash Deep, Mayank Yadav, and David Miller could see an uncertain future, till the auction concludes. A report said that Venkatesh Iyer, the third most expensive buy at last year’s auction — snapped up by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 23.75 crore — could be released by the franchise.
