The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a breeding ground for modern cricketing superstars, particularly in Indian cricket. Many of today’s top players began their journeys as rookies representing their clubs and states before making a name for themselves on this grand stage.

IPL 2025 is no different, with several uncapped talents eager to leave their mark and take a significant step forward in their careers. Here are some promising young players to watch out for this season:

Robin Minz (Mumbai Indians)

Minz was set to make his IPL debut last year with Gujarat Titans (GT), but a road accident delayed his dream. Now, Mumbai Indians (MI) have invested in him, acquiring the hard-hitting Jharkhand batter for Rs 65 lakh—more than twice his base price of Rs 30 lakh, as per Wisden. Known for his explosive batting, Minz boasts a strike rate of 181 in T20 cricket, though he has played just six innings, scoring 67 runs. At 22, he also offers versatility as a wicketkeeper.

Suryansh Shedge (Punjab Kings)

One of India’s breakout domestic stars of 2024, Shedge had a defining moment in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final. With Mumbai struggling at 129/5 in a 175-run chase against Madhya Pradesh, he played a match-winning knock—36* off just 15 balls, smashing three fours and four sixes. He also contributed with the ball, dismissing Venkatesh Iyer.

Shedge finished the tournament with 131 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 251.92 and an average of 43.66. He also picked up eight wickets at 23.00 apiece. After solid performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Ranji Trophy, the IPL provides him the perfect stage to break into the highly competitive Indian setup. Punjab Kings (PBKS) secured him at his base price of Rs 30 lakh.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi (Rajasthan Royals)

One of the biggest surprises of last year’s IPL mega-auction was Rajasthan Royals (RR) signing Suryavanshi for Rs 1.1 crore. Born on March 27, 2011, in Bihar, he is the youngest player in this edition of the IPL. He made his first-class debut for Bihar in January 2024 at just 12 years and 284 days old.

Suryavanshi showcased his talent in India U19’s match against Australia in Chennai, where he smashed a 58-ball century. He also featured in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) 2024 but didn’t get much opportunity to shine. However, his impressive run in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup 2024-25, where he scored 176 runs in five matches with a highest score of 76*, underlines his potential.

C Andre Siddarth (Chennai Super Kings)

The nephew of Tamil Nadu cricket stalwart S Sharath, Siddarth is yet to play an official T20 match, but he has already made waves in domestic cricket. The 18-year-old had a stellar Ranji Trophy campaign, amassing 612 runs in 12 innings at an average of 68.00, including a century and five fifties.

While he has played in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL), his IPL debut with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be his first real test in the shortest format. Will he translate his red-ball success into T20 fireworks?

Bevon Jacobs (Mumbai Indians)

The only overseas player on this list, Jacobs was born in Pretoria but has represented New Zealand’s domestic sides, Auckland and Canterbury. Despite having played just six T20 innings when MI picked him up for Rs 20 lakh, his explosive strike rate of 189 caught the franchise’s attention.

In 20 T20 matches overall, Jacobs has scored 423 runs in 17 innings at an average of 32.53 and a strike rate of over 148, with two half-centuries and a highest score of 90*. His ability to accelerate the scoring makes him a valuable addition to MI’s squad.

With these uncapped talents eager to prove their worth, IPL 2025 promises to be an exciting platform for the next generation of cricketing stars.
