In an intense match between RCB and CSK on May 3, a scuffle broke out that turned ugly and led to the police station to file complaints. The incident happened between an IPS officer’s family and the IT commissioner’s family, according to the Times of India report. The reason for the fight was the seating arrangement in the elite diamond box at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The reports suggest that both families have filed a complaint against each other at the Cubbon Park police station, which is 5 minutes away from the stadium. The family of the IPS  officer has accused the tax commissioner’s family of abuse, intimidation, and inappropriate touch. As per the reports incident was initiated by an argument between the IPS officer’s son and daughter and a man of the tax commissioner’s family.

According to the TOI report, a cop said, “The daughter stepped away to use the washroom, leaving her purse on the seat to indicate it was occupied. That is when a man came and occupied her seat. When the brother told him to vacate as his sister was all set to return, the man did not budge and an argument broke out between the two. Soon, the sister joined her brother while the man was joined by his wife, the income tax official, and their son. The argument intensified with each hurling abuse at the other. At one point, the confrontation between the IPS officer’s daughter and the man almost went out of control as the man was arguing in her face.”

The cop further said, “What’s more shocking is it all took place in the complimentary hospitality box even as several senior government officials watched without intervening.”

According to the report, the IPS officer and his wife, who were at home, were contacted by their children for help. After that, the officer’s wife contacted the police for assistance, but when no help was received, she directed her daughter and son to file a complaint at the Cubbon Park police station.

In the report, she alleged that a man had made unwanted physical contact with her daughter and invaded her privacy with offensive intent. Consequently, the police registered a case against two unidentified individuals under BNS Sections 351 (criminal intimidation), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 75 (sexual harassment involving unwelcome physical contact), and 79 (insulting a woman’s modesty).

The reported timeframe of the incident was between 9:40 pm and 10:20 pm. Two hours later, the accused and his wife were called to the police station but were subsequently allowed to leave, with police stating that further action would follow an investigation.
