The BCCI has announced the full schedule of the ongoing IPL 2024 season. With this, it has been confirmed that the full tournament will be played in India with the final match in Chennai.

The IPL 2024 final is scheduled to take place at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium on May 26, with the city also set to host the second qualifier on May 24. Besides this, the first qualifier will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 21, followed by the Eliminator on May 22 at the same venue.

This will be the first time Chennai will be hosting the IPL final in 12 years. The Chepauk stadium has previously seen two IPL finals, one in 2011 and the second in 2012.

Earlier, the BCCI had announced the schedule for the first two weeks of the tournament in which 21 matches are to be played. The second phase of the IPL schedule, which consists of 52 matches including the playoffs, is set to kick off on April 8. The opening match will see CSK hosting Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai. As customary, all playoff matches will be held in the evening.

IPL 2024 groups

The ten teams have been split into two groups, each containing five teams. CSK is placed in a group alongside Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Punjab Kings. The second group includes five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians, along with KKR, Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants.

During the second phase, Delhi Capitals will play their initial two home matches in Visakhapatnam, but for the remaining five matches, they will return to their home ground, the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, where they’ll be cheered on by their enthusiastic local supporters.

Punjab Kings, who began their season at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, will conclude their home fixtures in Dharamsala. The picturesque stadium will host PBKS for two matches on May 5 and 9 against Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore, respectively.
