The ticket sale of the ICC T20 World Cup began via a public ballot last month. However, owing to an unprecedented frenzy, all tickets have been sold out.
But the craze for attending India vs Pakistan match refuses to go. So, despite the sold-out status, the tickets of the most-anticipated match is being sold for astonishing price. According to a report by the USA Today, resale sites such as SeatGeek and StubHub are selling the World Cup tickets for out-of-world price range.
While the official price range fixed by the ICC was $6 (Rs 497), the tickets of India vs Pakistan New York match are being sold at $175,000 (Rs 1.86 crore)! This includes the platform charges and other extra fees.
On the official site, the most-expensive tickets was priced at $400 (Rs 33148). This was without taxes price tag. But with all tickets being sold out, fans have the only option of buying tickets on the resale site, where the match tickets are being sold at astronomical price. So, the most expensive ticket, which had the price tag of $400 officially, is now listed at $40,000! This comes to roughly around Rs 33 lakh.
The ticket price of ICC T20 World Cup 2024 has crossed the range of NBA Finals, Super Bowl. As per a USA Today report, the average resale ticket price for Super Bowl 58 was $9,000, whereas courtside seats for the NBA finals reached prices as high as $24,000.
India and Pakistan have faced each other seven times before at the T20 World Cup, with encounters in 2007 (including the Final), 2012, 2014, 2016, 2021, and 2022. They did not face each other in the tournament only in 2009 and 2010.
The ICC got over 3 million ticket applications during the ballot period. These applications were from over 160 countries. All tickets of matches scheduled in the US are not available on the official site. The ICC said that the India vs Pakistan match on June 9 in New York has been oversubscribed more than 200 times.
