Bangladesh will host India for a white-ball series comprising three ODIs and three T20Is in August-September 2026, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Friday (January 2).
The series, which was postponed earlier, has now been rescheduled, with the Indian team set to arrive in Bangladesh on August 28. The announcement means cricket will continue to happen between the two neighbouring countries amid cases of violence against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, something which has irked a section of the people in India.
The sentiment is so strong that Shah Rukh Khan who co-owns the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has even been labelled a “traitor” because his franchise bid for Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman for Rs 9.20 crore. Not only did spiritual leader Jagadguru Swami Rambhadracharya term him a traitor but so did BJP leader Sangeet Som.
“The series that was postponed earlier between Bangladesh and India has been rescheduled,” Shahriar Nafees, BCB’s cricket operations in-charge, told Cricbuzz.
India’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh from September 1 to 13
As per the revised itinerary, the ODI matches will be played on September 1, 3 and 6, followed by the three T20Is on September 9, 12 and 13. India will return home after the conclusion of the T20I series. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are likely to be part of the ODI series.
The announcement came as BCB unveiled Bangladesh’s home international calendar for the 2026 season, which features bilateral series against Pakistan, New Zealand, India, Australia and the West Indies across all three formats.
“The confirmed itinerary ensures a season full of international cricket in Bangladesh, providing supporters across the country the opportunity to watch top-level cricket at home while details of match venues will be announced in due course,” the BCB said in a statement.
