Ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian cricket team, expressed uncertainty about participating in the upcoming Perth Test against Australia. Following a disappointing whitewash against New Zealand, where India lost the third Test by 25 runs, Rohit’s availability remains in question.

“Right now, I am not too sure whether I’ll be going, but let’s see. Fingers crossed,” Rohit stated during the post-match press conference after the defeat to the Kiwis.

In his career against Australia, Rohit has played 12 Tests, amassing 708 runs at a strike rate of 52.17, including one century and three fifties. The highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar series kicks off on November 22 in Perth, where India aims to continue its recent dominance over Australia.

India has won the last four series against Australia, including two victories on Australian soil during the 2018-19 and 2020-21 seasons.

Overall, India has claimed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 10 times, while Australia has secured it five times, with their last series win occurring in the 2014-15 season.

The second Test will feature a day-night format at Adelaide Oval from December 6 to 10, followed by the third Test at The Gabba in Brisbane from December 14 to 18. The series will culminate with the traditional Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30, before concluding with the fifth Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3 to 7.
