After conceding a humbling defeat to England in the last T20 encounter at Old Trafford on Friday, South Africa will look to bounce back in the decider to claim the series. England and South Africa are set to clash in an epic tie-breaker on Sunday, September 14, at Trent Bridge Stadium in Nottingham.

Phil Salt, Harry Brook and Jos Butler were on top of their game on Friday as the English batters went on to record a massive target of 305 for South Africa. In a Phil Salt special, England became the third team to ever record a target of more than 300 runs in a T20 international.

England vs South Africa: AI match prediction

Ahead of the match, Artificial Intelligence (AI) bots, ChatGPT and Perplexity were asked to predict the winner of the T20I series decider. Based on the analysis of their past encounters, GPT and Perplexity gave out the following prediction.

Both ChatGPT and Perplexity favoured England to win the game. ChatGPT forecasted England to take the game in light of their tremendous batting form and home ground advantage. “If the match is at a home ground for England, and conditions favour batting early, England are slightly favoured to win. They have been in hot batting form lately,” ChatGPT posted.

Perplexity posted a win probability of 65-35 in favour of England. The AI bot presented similar reasons for backing the English side as ChatGPT. However, the AI bot took into account that if the pitch conditions at the time favour bowlers (swing, seam, spin), South Africa could also get early breakthroughs and then easily dominate the game.

Both bots predict the game to be a close one. Both sides are expected to continue with the same set of players in their playing XI.
