DC IPL 2025 Schedule, Dates, Squad, Match List: Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals (DC) will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign against Rishabh Pant’s Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on March 24 (Monday) at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. DC will play their first two home matches in Visakhapatnam before moving to their regular home venue in Delhi.
Axar Patel has been appointed Delhi Capitals’ captain for IPL 2025. Having been with the franchise since 2019, he was their top retention pick for Rs 16.50 crore ahead of the mega auction last November. Axar also serves as Team India’s vice-captain in the T20I format. With Rishabh Pant’s departure from DC before the mega auction, Axar emerged as the team’s most experienced player, having played 82 matches for the franchise over six seasons.
In IPL 2024, he scored 235 runs at an average of nearly 30 and took 11 wickets with an economy rate of 7.65. Veteran South African batter Faf du Plessis (40) has been named vice-captain of Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025. Previously leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) until IPL 2024, du Plessis was released ahead of the mega auction and was acquired by DC for his base price of Rs 2 crore.
