General Motors (GM) and TWG Global are putting up $1 billion to bring America to the fastest sport in the world. For the first time in 10 years, the Formula 1 grid will host an 11th team.

In 2026, Cadillac Formula 1 Team (owned by GM) will go wheel-to-wheel with Europe’s Fastest in the likes of Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren and Red Bull. Cadillac will be looking to turn heads with Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez each in the $20 million car. The experienced duo holds 16 Race Wins, over 100 Podiums, and 500+ Race Starts under their belt.

Anti-Dilution Fee

Immediately out of the purse, $450 million will be distributed among the current 10 Teams as a one-time ‘anti-dilution fee’ as compensation for future prize money and revenue being split between 11 rather than 10 teams.

This leaves the American Giant with just over half a billion dollars to spend on its goal of becoming the first American Team to win the Formula One World Championship.

Cadillac’s 2026 Car Engine

Cadillac’s 2026 car will feature a new generation of 1.6L V6 Turbo-Hybrid engines manufactured by Ferrari with an innovative 50/50 split between Combustion and Electric Power, all while running on Advanced Sustainable Fuels and clocking over 1000 Horsepower. Meanwhile, General Motors is also developing its own Formula 1 Engine and hoping to introduce it in 2029.

GM and TWG Global

GM was established in 1908, and is currently amongst the top 5 Automotive Giants in the world in both Market Cap and Revenue and consistently amongst the top 8 Automotive Conglomerates in the Global Automobile market share.

TWG Global, an American investment holding conglomerate, is partnering with GM on its Formula 1 project. TWG Global holds a majority stake in the NBA Team Los Angeles Lakers (17-Time Champions) and in the WNBA team Los Angeles Sparks (3-Time Champions).

TWG Global also holds significant stakes in the MLB team Los Angeles Dodgers (9-Time Champions) and has expanded into the English Premier League with investments into Chelsea FC, among more.

This investment is America’s chance to transform a road car giant into a Global Motorsport powerhouse and for their partner Andretti Racing, it’s the final step to glory that began 47 years ago when Mario Andretti became the last American to win the Formula 1 World Championship.

Cadillac Formula 1 Team is the latest in America’s push towards Formula 1 glory, following Ford’s strategic partnership with Red Bull Racing from the 2026 season, meaning both century-old giants will be on the grid at the beginning of the brand-new era of Formula 1.
