The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced updates to India’s home season schedule on Tuesday, including notable changes to the upcoming T20I fixtures.

Change of Venue for T20I Against Bangladesh

The first T20I between India and Bangladesh, initially scheduled to be held at Dharamsala’s HPCA Stadium on October 6, 2024, will now take place at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. The venue shift is attributed to ongoing upgrades and renovation work at the Dharamsala stadium’s dressing rooms. This match will mark the inaugural international fixture at Gwalior’s new stadium, which is notable for its historical significance; it is where Sachin Tendulkar made history by becoming the first male cricketer to score a double century in ODIs during the India-South Africa ODI in 2010.

Venue Swap for T20I Series Against England

In a separate update, the BCCI has swapped the venues for the first and second T20Is in the England series. Originally, Chennai was set to host the first T20I on January 22, 2025, and Kolkata the second on January 25, 2025. Under the revised schedule, Kolkata will now host the first T20I, and Chennai will host the second. This change comes in response to a request from Kolkata Police to accommodate their Republic Day commitments. Despite the venue changes, the dates for both matches remain unchanged.

Upcoming Home Season Overview

India’s 2024-25 home international season will commence with two Tests and three T20Is against Bangladesh, scheduled from September 19 to October 12. Following this, New Zealand will tour India for three Test matches from October 16 to November 5. The series against England will feature five T20Is and three ODIs from January 22 to February 12, 2025. These ODIs will be India’s only 50-over games before the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
