While recent reports pointed out that LG might be considering to name its next flagship smartphone under its ‘G’ line with LG G7, the company has already trademarked at least three new smartphone names. According to the trademark filing, LG is considering the names – LG Icon, LG Aicon, and LG Aiconn – to give to its future smartphones – however, the company may or may not be using these names anytime soon.

Evan Blass, who is a renowned tipster, spotted the names – LG Icon, LG Aicon, and LG Aiconn – under the trademark filings on the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) website. Moreover, the South Korean giant has also filed to trademark LG Iconic as a name for its future smartwatch. The LG Icon smartphone and Iconic smartwatch duo could be a part of LG’s next-generation devices, however, there is no official word by the company.

Interestingly, as we said, these trademark filings do not necessarily mean that LG’s handset and smartwatch will make it to the market with these names. The trademark filing is just a way for companies to secure a particular name for their future products and simultaneously, they are at a discretion to keep or discard them.

Recently, LG was reported to have listed its next flagship on its UK website. Listed as ‘Future LG G7’, the company may have hinted at the possibility that the ‘G’ smartphone line is being carried forward. This piece of news has already squashed earlier rumours that LG could be thinking to rebrand the ‘G’ range for its upcoming flagship smartphones. There is a little information available, as of yet, about what specifications LG’s next flagship will house. The LG G7 could come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, just like what company did with its year-old G6. The possibility of the Snapdragon 835 is based on the fact that the G7 will support Quick Charge 4.0 technology, as revealed by the listing on LG UK website.
