ISRO GSLV Mk 3 rocket launches GSAT-19 satellite into space: Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched the heaviest-ever rocket and satellite from the country. GSLV-MkIII D1 carried the 3,136 kg communication satellite GSAT-19 from the spaceport of Sriharikota. The rocket lifted off on schedule at 5.28 pm from the second launch pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. (Source: AP)

ISRO GSLV Mk 3 rocket launches GSAT-19 satellite into space: GSLV-Mk III is the heaviest rocket ever made by India and is capable of carrying the heaviest satellites made till date. The GSLV MkIII-D1 has shown its capability of lifting payloads of up to 4,000 kg into the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO) and 10,000 kg into the Low Earth Orbit. The GSLV MarkIII rocket system is a 3-stage vehicle with indigenous cryogenic upper stage engine designed to carry heavier communication satellites into the GTO. (Source: AP)
