Who is making the big bucks in Hollywood? And most importantly, who is getting paid the most despite his poor performance at the box office. This is what the latest list of Forbes reveals. The Forbes list names the actors earning hefty paycheques even as they are considered the most 'overpaid' stars. The list was based on a valuation which included the performance of an actor’s last three non-animated, large-scale movies released prior to June 1, 2017. So, here is a look at most overpaid actors of 2017:
Brad Pitt: The Academy Award winner took the fifth spot as he generated $11.50 at the box office for every $1 he was paid in his last three worldwide releases. His 2016 period thriller Allied flopped, grossing just $119.5 million on an estimated production cost of $85 million. (Reuters) Denzel Washington: Washington closed out 2016 with an Oscar nomination for August Wilson adaptation 'Fence' that grossed $57.7 million domestically but a low international tally coupled with last year’s expensive misfire, The Magnificent Seven, warranted Washington’s inclusion. He gets the fourth spot earning back $10.40 at the box office for every $1 he was paid in recent films. (Reuters) Channing Tatum: Tatum comes in at No. 3 among as he created a mediocre $7.60 at the box office for every $1 he earned in recent films. That’s due in part to 2017’s Logan Lucky, which grossed just $46.7 million on a $29 million budget. (Reuters) Christian Bale: The actor is ranked second on the list with a $6.70 return on investment of $1. He held the spot because of Armenian genocide flop The Promise. The big-budget epic earned back an estimated 11% of its $90 million-plus production costs, making it one of the worst-performing wide releases of the year. (Reuters) Mark Wahlberg: 'The Departed' actor has topped the charts as he made over a whopping $68 million pre-tax this year. Wahlberg pulled in only $4.40 at the box office for every dollar spent on his services. Interestingly, in August, Forbes had announced another list of ‘Highest Paid Actors of 2017’ and Wahlberg was number one in that too.
