The Amrit Snan, which took place on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, witnessed millions of devotees assembling at the Triveni Sangam, the sacred meeting point of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. This sacred dip, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti, marked the beginning of the Mahakumbh Mela 2025. The Amrit Snan holds immense spiritual significance in Hindu tradition, offering participants a chance for purification and spiritual renewal.The event attracted devotees from all corners of the country and beyond.
The Maha Kumbh, held once every 12 years, is the world’s largest religious gathering. Millions of people visit Prayagraj to bathe in the sacred waters, believed to wash away sins and purify the soul. Over 40 crore devotees are expected to attend, surpassing the populations of the US and Russia. The event, spanning 4,000 hectares, will continue until February 26, with extensive security measures, including AI cameras and underwater drones, in place.
