Ganesh Chaturthi 2016: Vinayaka Chaturthi is being celebrated across India on Monday by families at home, by people at their places of work and in public. Celebrations are marked by devotees installing clay images of Ganesha in public pandals. Chaturthi means "fourth day" or "fourth state". Celebrations are traditionally held on the fourth day of the second fortnight (Shukla Chaturthi) in the month of Bhaadrapada in the Hindu calendar, usually August or September in the Gregorian calendar. Ganesh Chaturthi 2016: Mumbai has decked up to welcome its favourite Lord Ganesha. Ganesh Chaturthi 2016: Thousands of devotees thronged the Ganesha temples at Pillayarpatti in Sivaganga and Tiruchirappalli city to offer special prayers to the presiding deity on occasion of the Ganesha chathurthi today. Ganesh Chaturthi 2016: A 75 kg "Kozhukattai" was offered to lord Vinayaka at Rock Fort temple in Tiruchirappalli. In Madurai a kozhukattai made from 18 measures of rice and jaggery was offered to Mukkurini Ganesha at Sri Meenakshi temple here.
