Centre took step to appease Muslims, says Sadhvi</br><br> Amid the government's contention that participation in June 21 events to mark International Yoga Day was not "compulsory", a Hindu Mahasabha leader in Haryana today accused the Centre of trying to appease Muslims and asserted that those opposing 'Surya Namskar' have no right to live in the country. Sadhvi Deva Thakur, former vice president of Haryana Hindu Mahasabha, said here the Centre's approach for not making the yoga events "compulsory" was the "biggest failure" of the Narendra Modi government. BJP says Pakistan should draw lessons from Indian Army's Myanmar operation</br><br> Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today hailed Army's pre-dawn surgical strike inside Myanmar killing 38 Naga insurgents and said it reflects the Narendra Modi government's policy of 'zero tolerance' towards terrorism, from which all terror groups as well as Pakistan should draw lessons. BJP national spokesperson M J Akbar said the Myanmar operation is more evidence of the emerging Modi doctrine. On one side of the coin is "zero tolerance" for terrorism including an unprecedented will for punitive retribution, and on the other "we cede the ground" for mutually beneficial friendship with "nations which cooperate with us on terrorism", as was was evident in Bangladesh, Akbar said. Delhi govt to deploy 4,000 marshals in city buses</br><br> Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi has decided to deploy trained marshals in all buses plying in the national capital to put a check on incidents of eve-teasing and violence against women. The government has already planned to depute 4,000 well trained marshals in the first phase, which would be extended subsequently. "This will not only put a check on incidents of eve-teasing and violence against women and girls, but also will instill confidence among the women to use public transport as a safe mode of commuting," minister Sandeep Kumar said. 'Narendra Modi's remarks in B'desh aimed at fanning hatred against Pakistan'</br><br> Pakistan today unleashed a barrage attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks in Dhaka saying it was aimed at fanning hatred and souring ties with Bangladesh as the army chief pledged to foil any "evil" designs against the country. A day after mellowed reaction from the Foreign Office calling as regretful Modi's remarks that Pakistan was creating disturbance and instigating terrorism in India, Pakistan Prime Minister's Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz stepped up the attack on India in a speech in Parliament. He said his country will take all steps to "expose" India's role in the break up of East Pakistan in 1971 and to "destabilise" it through terrorism. (AP)

Gujarat govt hikes price of first language textbook for primary schools</br><br> Gujarat Government today increased the prices of first language textbook of primary schools of five mediums except Gujarati, officials said. "We have revised the price of first language textbook of five mediums — English, Hindu, Urdu, Sindhi, and Marathi in standard one to five due to heavy printing cost," Chief of the Gujarat State School Textbook Board (GSSTB) Nitin Pethani told PTI. The decision to increase the price has been taken after around ten years by the GSSTB while the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) revises the price every two to three years, Pethani claimed.
