Akshay Kumar's Gabbar Is Back, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Mr X, Ek Paheli Leela, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!, NH10, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, and more. Here are the movies still running in theatres although their release dates are far apart. Check out how they are faring in terms of box office collections: ((Bollywood Hungama)
The saga of a crusading hero who takes on the might of a corrupt system should have been a rousing movie experience. However, Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Gabbar is Back’ isn’t. Southern director Krish’s Hindi-language debut is a strangely inert, if not entirely inept, action film that fails to rise above the pedestrian. The film’s lead actor Akshay Kumar brings his customary enthusiasm to the table in playing a not-so-docile college professor who turns into a ruthless corruption-buster. After reaching a peace with their structure and roles on the superhero fighting team, Tony Stark/Iron Man and Steve Rogers/Captain America have begun to clash ideologically. The stoic Steve, still reeling from revelations of widespread corruption in “The Winter Soldier,” is starting to question the precepts he’s followed blindly for so long. Tony, meanwhile, is drifting toward the desire for order and control. “Morality hits Tony, humanity hits Tony. All of a sudden he feels responsible,” said Chris Evans, who plays Rogers for the fourth time in the billion dollar Marvel franchise. Films like Vijay Bhatt's MR. X, Kishore Kumar starrer MR. X IN BOMBAY, Tusshar Kapoor starrer GAAYAB and the Shekhar Kapoor directed cult film MR. INDIA have been some of the films done in the past. This week's release is Vikram Bhatt's MR. X, a film that's again based on the 'invisible man'. Will this film make its 'presence felt' at the box-office or will it do the disappearing act, let's analyze. The western import to Bollywood aka Sunny Leone is definitely one of them! Despite having not a single release since the last year (her last release was RAGINI MMS 2), still, her films are awaited with same enthusiasm and excitement. If one Sunny Leone wasn’t enough, this week’s release EK PAHELI LEELA sees Sunny Leone in a double role! Will Sunny live upto providing double the excitement or will this double role saga land mean double-trouble at the Box-Office windows for Sunny and the film! It is a stylized, unconventional and wonderfully well crafted adaptation of a mystery tale that stays true to the spirit and the period of its literary source while sticking steadfastly to its own unique contemporary cinematic idiom. Sushant Singh Rajput, in the role of the fictional detective conceived well over 80 years ago by Bengali litterateur Saradindu Bandyopadhyay, makes a marvellously understated and hugely effective hero. That one moment does a lot for a woman breaking the shackles of a warped male dominated mindset in the heartland of India. Navdeep Singh’s NH10 is a highly relevant film in these times where women’s empowerment is the need of the hour. However, the excessive detailing of the violence doesn’t make it an easy watch. Well, besides the fact that they are all talented and look eternally beautiful in their hourglass figures, they all are the quintessential ‘Yash Raj heroine’. Yash Raj Films (YRF), which has always been synonymous with Swiss Alps, chiffon sarees and its choice of heroines, for the first time ever, introduces a ‘weighty heroine’, named Bhumi Pednekar in this week’s release DUM LAGA KE HAISHA. Does YRF’s ‘latest discovery’ live upto the reputation and the hype that goes hand in hand with every YRF discovery, and does size really matter in this film, lets analyze.
