Flash floods: August 2025 saw catastrophic flash floods batter Northern India and Pakistan, as relentless monsoon rains triggered landslides, swept away entire villages, and left hundreds dead. Both countries grappled with overwhelmed rescue teams, damaged infrastructure, and the ever-growing dangers of a changing climate. The flooding was triggered by sudden, intense downpours over small areas led to widespread destruction and loss of human lives. With rescue operations currently underway on both sides, cumulatively over 280 have been reported dead across borders, with hundreds registered as ‘missing’.(Photo Source: Associated Press)
