Severe monsoon rains have caused extensive damage, waterlogging, and disruption across several Indian states, with more heavy showers expected in the coming days. Central and eastern parts of West Bengal are facing significant rainfall, affecting the drainage systems and flooding in low-lying areas. The northeastern region, especially Assam and Tripura, is also experiencing significant flood-like conditions because of continued downpours. In the north, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and parts of Jammu and Kashmir are under alert for rain-induced waterlogging and landslides in hilly terrains. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted further intense rainfall for this week.
