The India Meteorological Department has predicted severe weather conditions for Bengaluru along with heavy rains and thunderstorms. As per the latest report, in the last 24 hours, the city has recorded 66.1 mm of rainfall till Wednesday morning. The continuous rain has resulted in heavy traffic and waterlogging and has also impacted the lives of daily residents. As a precautionary measure, all the schools located in the Bengaluru Urban district have been closed for Wednesday. Several employees from the information technology and biotechnology sectors have been asked to do work from home. To monitor emergencies in Bengaluru, Karnataka’s Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has deployed personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Karnataka State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). The IMD has also warned that there will be heavy downpours accompanied by lightning and showers for not just Bengaluru but also for coastal and interior Karnataka. The cloudy weather is going to remain in the city for three to four days. The heavy rains have also led to the cancellation of several trains because of waterlogging on the tracks.
