Doctors across India staged a national strike on Saturday in response to the rape and murder of a female doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Medical professionals and citizens in several cities participated, leading to the closure of non-emergency services in hospitals nationwide. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) condemned the incident as a “barbaric crime” and urged nationwide support for justice.
