Flipkart vs Snapdeal: Sachin Bansal, Kunal Bahl squabble on social media – Ecommerce rivals Flipkart and Snapdeal slug it out on social media over the Chinese online retailer Alibaba's plans to enter the Indian market.Alibaba, which has invested in Indian e-tailers like Paytm and Snapdeal, recently said that it plans a full-fledged entry into the Indian market. Taking a pot shot at competitors, Flipkart co-founder Sachin Bansal in a tweet said, "Alibaba deciding to start operations directly shows how badly their Indian investments have done so far." Hitting back, Snapdeal founder Kunal Bahl tweeted, "Didn't Morgan Stanley just flush 5bn worth market cap in Flipkart down the (toilet seat icon) Focus on ur business not commentary (smile icon)". Air India announces revised schedule of departure of flights: The Calicut-Mumbai Air India flight will depart from here at 8.55 AM with effect from tomorrow, as per the revised scheduled announced by the airline Currently the flight departs here at 7.45 AM. The airline in a release said that the Calicut-Dubai flight will leave at 11.20 AM instead of the current timing of 10.00 AM. Funds for land acquisition of Agartala-Akhaura rly project soon: Funds for acquisition of land for the Agartala–Akhaura rail project to link Indian Railways with Bangladesh Railways, will soon be released by the DoNER ministry, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said today. "The PMO has recently made an assessment of the project and directed the DoNER ministry to release funds for land acquisition and construction of roads along the tracks up to the Indo-Bangla border and laying of tracks on the Indian side. Kaya raises stake in Iris Medical Centre LLC: Skin care firm Kaya Ltd today said it along with a local partner has increased stake in Abu Dhabi-based Iris Medical Centre LLC to 85 per cent by acquiring 10 per cent additional stake for an undisclosed sum. "Kaya Middle East DMCC, a foreign subsidiary of Kaya Ltd along with its local partner, has additionally acquired 10 per cent of beneficial interest in Iris Medical Centre LLC at Abu Dhabi (IRIS) through MoA and Assignment of shares of IRIS on March 24, 2016," Kaya informed the BSE. It further said: "Thus, Kaya Middle East DMCC now holds 85 per cent beneficial interest in IRIS".

Experts root for 85pc pictorial warnings on tobacco products: The Centre should not step back on 85 per cent pictorial warnings (PWs) on tobacco products, experts said here today, while stressing that the move was required to save millions of lives in the country. Addressing reporters here, a team of health experts said though the government had issued a notification on October 15, 2014, making it mandatory for tobacco firms to display graphic health warning occupying 85 per cent of the principal display area of all tobacco packs, it was yet to come into force. Recently, the Committee on Subordinate Legislation (COSL) presented a conflicting report recommending 50 per cent PWs on both sides of cigarettes packets. (Express Photo)

India as a democracy better placed than EU: Arvind Panagariya: Comparing diversity issues in India and the European Union, Niti Aayog Vice Chairman Arvind Panagariya today said the world's largest democracy is better placed as a cohesive unit than EU and is bound to see high growth rates in the coming decades. Replying to a question on India often being called a "noisy democracy" at an industry body CII event here, the noted economist said India despite its huge diversity and varied traditions and cultures, has stayed as a single cohesive unit. "This says it all. Just think about it, Europeans, with far less diversity than India, today are still struggling to become a single state. India's aluminium consumption to rise to 20 MT: Anil Agarwal: Describing aluminium as the future, Vedanta Resources Chairman Anil Agarwal today said the consumption of the metal will rise to 20 million tonnes (MT) from the present 2 MT going ahead.
