On the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's 143rd birth anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday unveiled the 'Statue of Unity' at Gujarat's Kevadiya. The Prime Minister dedicated the 182-metre statue of Sardar Patel, popularly known as Iron Man of India to the nation.

At 182 metres, 'Statue of Unity' is now the tallest statue in the world. It has been erected using more than 70,000 tonnes of cement, 18,500 tonnes of reinforcement steel, 6,000 tonnes of structural steel and 1,700 metric tonnes of bronze. (Image: AP)

The 'Statue of Unity' is twice the height of the Statue of Liberty in the United States of America. The statue also has a viewing gallery near it, allowing tourists to have a glance of the Sardar Sarovar dam and nearby mountain ranges. (Image: Twitter)
