Shares of the little-known Indian information technology services firm Trigyn Technologies opened at the 5% upper circuit on Thursday and were locked, after similar gains yesterday, on the news of the company winning a big government contract in the US.

Trigyn Technologies shares were locked at Rs 114.85 on BSE, up 5% from yesterday’s close, which, in turn, was again 5% higher than Tuesday’s close.

Earlier this week, the company said its US unit has won a 12-year contract from the State of Maryland’s Department of Information Technology to the tune of $100 million per year. Trigyn will provide technical services to various public sector departments across the state of Maryland.

The contract award covers functional areas, which include, Enterprise Service Provider, Web & Internet Services, Electronic Document Management, Geographical Information Systems, Software Engineering, Systems/Facilities Management and Maintenance, Information System Security, Application Service Provider.

It also covers IT & Telecommunications Financial & Auditing Consulting Services, IT Management Consulting Services, Business Process Consulting Services, Electronic Benefits Transfer, Media & Training Center Support and Documentation /Technical Writing. The functional areas include 114 labor categories.

Earlier in January too, Trigyn had won a five-year General Services Administration (GSA) schedule contract from the US government, which appointed the company as an approved vendor on the GSA’s IT Schedule 70 to provide IT services. The win had sent the stocks soaring then too.

Trigyn’s shares have gained over 20% since a low of Rs 95.3 in December, on the back of these two contracts.

Notably, the US contract wins for the company come amid the new President Donald Trump’s protectionist policies to keep away overseas goods and service providers at bay in favour of promoting locally-procured products and services to bolster jobs and economic activity at home.

However, in his latest appearance – his first address to the United States Congress, Donald Trump took a more leveled tone with softened stance, seemingly becoming more Presidential in the face of responsibilities of the high office and the need to stem polarisation. “I am here tonight to deliver a message of unity and strength,” Trump said in his speech.
