In the SEBI versus Jane Street hearing, SEBI said on Tuesday that the investigation and final order on Jane Street could be much wider.
The market regulator said that the investigation against Jane Street is at a critical juncture and is ongoing.
Jane Street demands documents
During the hearing, as per Reuters, Jane Street said that during the inspection, SEBI’s surveillance report did not find any manipulation. Jane Street said that SEBI’s surveillance report was not mentioned in the order passed on July 4.
Further, Jane Street asked during the hearing why the examination of trading data by two SEBI departments had different conclusions. The trader has requested the release of all the relevant documents that are in the possession of SEBI
Document release becomes key issue
While Jane Street stressed the release of all the documents, SEBI said that it will not release any documents that were not relied upon for passing the order in the case.
Meanwhile, during the case, the court directed SEBI to file a reply on why it cannot share any more documents in the Jane Street case.
