The National Stock Exchange has revised the ticket size for scrips, indices, and F&O contracts from April 15, which will be based on the prices as of March 28.
Now, the exchange will be changing the ticket size which will vary on the price of the stock or index. If the security’s price is between 1,000-5,000 then the ticket price will be 0.10, changing from 0.05 earlier. However, there’s no change in the lot size if the security price is below 1,000.
For example, if a stock’s lot size was available for 100.05 before April 15, it’ll now trade for 100.10 and in its multiple like 100.20, 100.30, 100.40, etc.
For the indices, if the level is between 15,000-30,000 the ticket size changes to 0.10 from 0.05 and above 30,000 it changes to 0.20 from 0.05. However, it remains unchanged if the index’s level is below 15,000 to 0.05.
According to a definition at Investopedia, the tick size is the minimum price change either up or down of a trading instrument in a market. Its size for different assets traded varies. For example, a Rs 0.05 tick size means a stock can move from Rs 100.00 to Rs 100.05, but not Rs 100.02.
