The GIFT Nifty implied a higher start after the US tech-heavy index Nasdaq inched up in Monday’s trade. Following this, the Asian indices are also trading in the green tracking the US stock market.
Previously, on Monday, the NSE Nifty 50 closed the session 743 points or 3.24% lower at 22,162, while the BSE Sensex lost 2,227 points or 2.95% to close at 73,138.

Asia Markets
Asia markets traded on a higher note over US President Donald Trump’s tariff policy and threats of even higher levies on China. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was trading 5.56% higher at 32,869. South Korea’s Kospi was up 0.75% at 2,346. The Shanghai Composite was yet to open. The Asia Dow was trading 7.23% lower at 3,185.20.
US markets
Wall Street ended Monday’s trade on a mixed note following President Donald Trump’s tariff policy and threats against China for even higher rates. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 349.26 points, or 0.91%, to close at 37,965.60. The S&P 500 dropped 0.23% to end at 5,062.25. However, the Nasdaq Composite rose by 0.10% to settle at 15,603.26.
US dollar
The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the dollar’s value against a basket of six foreign currencies, was down 0.22% at 103.03 on Tuesday morning. The index evaluates the strength or weakness of the US dollar in comparison to major currencies. The basket contains currencies such as the British Pound, Euro, Swedish Krona, Japanese Yen, Swiss Franc, etc. The rupee depreciated 0.70% to close at 85.84 to the dollar on April 07.
Crude oil
The crude oil prices rose on Tuesday. WTI crude prices were trading at $61.43 up by 1.24%, while Brent crude prices were trading at $64.86 up by 1.02%, on Tuesday morning.
FII, DII data
Foreign institutional investors (FII) were the net sellers of shares worth Rs 9,040 crore. Meanwhile, the Domestic institutional investors (DII) were the net buyers of shares worth Rs 12,122.45 crore on April 07, 2024, according to the provisional data available on the NSE.
Gold rate today
The gold rate loses shine. The rate for 24-carat gold today fell 2.5% to Rs 87,100 per 10 grams. The rate of gold has risen by 1.1% in the last one month. The 22 kt gold rate today is Rs 79,842 per 10 grams. The 18-carat gold price today is Rs 65,325.
