The Maharashtra Government has declared December 6 as holiday for Mumbai and its suburbs. As a part of this local holiday, Government and semi-Government offices will remain shut in Mumbai that day. However, there is no notification from the stock exchanges and as of now neither NSE or BSE have issued any holiday circular. Therefore, the markets are not shut on December 6, as of now.

December 6 is the death anniversary of BR Ambedkar. People in large numbers pay tribute to him at Chaityabhoomi, in Dadar, Mumbai. He was cremated there. This year marks his 68th death anniversary and the day has been called Mahaparinirvan Diwas. This is the third local holiday announced by the State Government apart from Dahi Handi and Ganesh Chaturthi.

Stock market holidays in December

As of now, it will be business as usual for the exchanges on December 6. In terms of stock market holidays in December, the markets will be shut on December 25 on account of Christmas. That apart the markets are shut on the weekends, that is Saturdays and Sundays through December.
