Xiaomi today announced phase two rollout of its latest HyperOS software in India. The update is set to hit as many as seven Xiaomi and Redmi devices in March 2024. The company plans to add more devices to the list in the second quarter. The announcement comes just a few days ahead of Xiaomi’s big 14 launch event on March 7. The Xiaomi 14 is expected to ship with Xiaomi HyperOS right out of the gate.
Xiaomi shared the update on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, alongside the full list of devices eligible for the update. The rollout kicked off in January 2024 with the flagship Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi Pad 6 but the listing suggests more devices have been updated since then including the Redmi 12 5G, Redmi 12C, Redmi 11 Prime, and the Redmi Pad.
Prominent among the list is Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 13 series which was launched in January with the older MIUI 14 and a promise of being “HyperOS-ready”. All the three phones in the line-up – Redmi Note 13, Redmi Note 13 Pro, and Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus— are scheduled to get the HyperOS update in March. The older Redmi Note 12 series is also on course to get it in the same month.
HyperOS is aimed at uniting all of Xiaomi’s software efforts, and by extension its products, from phones to wearables to even its newly announced EV, under one roof with the idea that all of them should be able to communicate with each other seamlessly while also being able to talk to third-party devices at some point in time.
The new “OS” takes MIUI and puts it on overdrive mode with a big focus on seamless connectivity regardless of the device you’re using in addition to making everything nicer and smoother than before. HyperOS is lighter on storage and designed in a way to increase shelf life of the device it will work on. Then there are the visual changes that will allow for more granular customisation including more believable depth effect in wallpapers and more.
