Social media platform X (previously Twitter) announced a new record of banned content in India within the span of a month. The corporation has taken action against a staggering 212,627 accounts for allegedly promoting child sexual exploitation and non-consensual nudity. This move sets a new standard for online safety in the region.

Moreover, the micro-blogging platform has also removed 1,235 accounts for their association with promoting terrorism within India. X has attributed these actions to its implementation of various measures aimed at mitigating instances of child sexual exploitation and terrorism.

In its latest monthly report, X disclosed that it received 5,158 complaints from Indian users during the same period. These complaints were addressed through the platform’s grievance redressal mechanisms.

Among the reported issues, the majority were related to ban evasion, sensitive adult content, hateful conduct, and abuse/harassment.

Furthermore, the company processed 86 grievances pertaining to account suspensions, ultimately overturning seven of them after a thorough review. They said, “We overturned 7 of these account suspensions after reviewing the specifics of the situation. The remaining reported accounts remain suspended.”

Additionally, X received 29 inquiries regarding general account-related questions during this reporting period.
