X may not be the most commonly used apps for its new CEO Linda Yaccarino. The former NBCUniversal executive, during an interview onstage at Vox Media’s Code 2023 conference, at one point showed off her iPhone’s homepage. To the surprise of many, the X app was conspicuously absent from the first page.
According to a 9to5mac report, Yaccarino unlocked her iPhone to illustrate the essence of what X stands for. However, what caught the audience’s attention was the noticeable absence of the X app from the first page of her iPhone Home Screen.
As noticed by many, Linda has many apps on her iPhone like Starbucks, Gmail and Signal. She even has Meta’s Instagram and Facebook on her home screen but X is missing.
During the interview, Yaccarino appeared agitated and mentioned that some people in the room weren’t ready for her appearance on stage. She emphasised that X is a new company being constructed with values like freedom of expression and speech.

When asked about Musk’s thoughts on shifting X to a subscription-based service, Yaccarino seemed taken aback and didn’t provide a clear answer. It looked like Yaccarino was not fully prepared for certain questions about the company’s future plans, especially regarding potential changes in how X makes money through subscriptions.
Yaccarino, when asked to comment on X’ performance amidst all the ongoing crises, said that would be profitable in “early ’24.” She also informed that X has 540 million monthly active users and 225 million daily active users.
At one point during the interview it also seemed that Yaccarino wasn’t that much in touch with Musk. “Elon Musk announced you’re moving to an entirely subscription-based service,” interviewer said. “Nothing free about using X.”
To this she asked, “Did he say we were moving to it specifically or is thinking about it?” Yaccarino asked.
